FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24th
“Carnival in the Neighborhoods”
SANTA MARÍA DE BENQUERENCIA
18:00 h.: Parade of Costumes, accompanied by the Banda de Música “Asociación Musical Benquerencia” and the Charanga de Animación “Asamblea de Majaras”.
Organised by: Concejalía de Festejos. Toledo City Council and A.VV. “El Tajo”. Collaborators: AMPA “Gómez Manrique”, AMPA “Jaime de Foxá”, AMPA “Alberto Sánchez”, AMPA “Gregorio Marañón”, AMPA “Juan de Padilla”, CLM Infant School, Ludoteca “Enredos”, la Bebeteca, Adrián Room, CADIG, APACE, Down Toledo and Ludoteca Turuleca.

Itinerary: Exit at the back of the Santa María de Benquerencia Social Center, then by Avenida Río Boladiez, Calle Río Cascajoso, Calle Río Alberche, Calle Río Guadarrama ending at Paseo Juan Pablo II (behind the Library).

18:30 h.: Parade of Costumes, by the group “Friends of Santa Barbara” and the participation of the Batukada “KEKUMKA”.

Itinerary: Exit Plaza del Sagrario, going up Arroyo Street, Santa Bárbara Avenue, Santa Bárbara Square, go down Purísima Concepción Avenue, Service Way, Fuente Nueva Street, Alcántara Street, C/ Ciudadano Street and arrive to the Civic Center.
20:00 h.: Children’s Costume Contest.
Place: Centro Cívico de Santa Bárbara.

19:30 h.: Parades through the streets of the neighbourhood with the participation of the Charanga de Carnaval de Totanés (Toledo). Distribution of sweets among the children.
21:30 h.: Great Verbena by the Orchestra “LA ALEGRIA DEL SUR”.
23:30 h.: Contest of costumes and distribution of prizes, (groups and individuals).
Place: Azucaica Civic Center

SATURDAY, 25 FEBRUARY
From 12:00 to 14:00 h.: Animation Charanga “Assembly of Majaras”.
Itinerary: You will walk through the streets of the Historical Quarter from the Plaza de
Zocodover.

From 12:00 to 14:00 h.: GREAT CARNIVAL CHILDREN’s PARTY.
Workshop of crowns of princesses and kings and carnival pintcaras, all accompanied by the animated characters “The Minions” and “The Canine Patrol”.
Place: Plaza Zocodover

17:30 h.: GREAT CARNIVAL PARADE-COURSE.
The Batukada “KEKUMKA” will open the parade
Organised by: Concejalía de Festejos. Toledo City Council.
Itinerary: Avenida de Barber, Avenida de la Reconquista, Puerta de Bisagra and Paseo de Merchán. At the end of the parade and while the jury deliberates… great chocolate for all attendees, with the collaboration of Bar “Los Serrano” and Master Class ZUMBA.

From 12:00 to 14:00 h.: GREAT CARNIVAL CHILDREN’s PARTY.
Carnival masks workshop and catch the chick, accompanied by the animated characters “La Patrulla Canina” and “Peppa Pig”.
Place: Plaza del Ayuntamiento
From 12:30 to 14:00 h.: Batukada “KEKUMKA”.
Itinerary: Itinerary: You will walk through the streets of the Historical Quarter from the Plaza de Zocodover.

17:00 h.: Wake of the Sardine.
During the wake, the funeral procession made up of family and friends will be presented with pastas and sweet wine.
Place: Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Burial of the Sardine by the Theatre Company ETR.
17:30 h.: Art Comedy Scenes in Zocodover Square.
18:00 h.: Parade of the burial of the Sardine, the participation of the Young Band “Diego Ortiz” and the Charanga of Animation “Assembly of Majaras”.
Itinerary: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Calle Comercio, Plaza de Zocodover, Cuesta de Carlos V, Calle Horno de los Bizcochos, Plaza de la Magdalena, Calle Tornerías, Plaza Mayor, Calle Sixto Ramón Parro, Bajada del Barco and Plaza del Embarcadero.
Then sardines for all attendees, GREAT FIRE ARTIFICIAL SPECTACLE by the Pyrotechnic “La Sagreña” and Popular Verbena to the rhythm of the Orchestra “LIGEROS DE EQUIPAJE”.
Place: Passenger Ship.
