The city of Toledo will host the XII Muestra de Cine Independiente y Fantástico de Toledo from 4 to 7 December 2008, where some of the latest cinematographic creations of this genre will be screened, with an outstanding protagonism of the short film, and whose official inauguration will be in charge this year of the actor and film director Santiago Segura.
The XII edition of the exhibition brings important novelties, such as the presence in Toledo of the actor and director Santiago Segura next Thursday, December 4 (2008), at 20:00 hours, acting as master of ceremonies to officially inaugurate the cinema exhibition and give way to the projection of the cycle of short films “Made in Castilla-La Mancha”, with the films “Prométame que va a volver”, “Canción de gua fría”, “No se vaya/no se retire” and “Silba Pérfida”.
On Saturday 6th it will be the turn of the magician Anthony Blake, who will present at 22:00 hours at the Centro Cultural de Caja de Castilla-La Mancha the show “Más cerca”, the only activity that will not be free of the festival. The cost of early admission will be 18 euros and 24 euros at the box office.
A total of 86 cinematographic works from all over Spain have been submitted to this year’s festival, of which a total of 26 have been pre-selected for the final phase and can be seen in this exhibition. All these short films will compete for the “Objective Prize”, with 1,600 euros for the best work and 600 euros for the best script.

In addition to the screenings in the official competition section, the public will be able to enjoy other recent films such as Adrián Cardona’s “The Root of Evil” or Jamje J. Wilson’s “The Cemetery” and some fantasy classics such as Vernon Zimmerman’s “Fused to Black” or the Mexican “Capulina contra los monstruos”.
The director of the exhibition, Javier Perea, said that this year it has been decided to hold the festival during the Bridge of the Constitution with the aim of attracting more public during these days that many people come to Toledo to visit the city.
