On Thursday 8 May at 20 hours is presented at the Museum of Santa Cruz “Angélico Greco. The sky was filled with music“, with a live musical performance. A book-record designed to listen to the painter’s paintings.
Under the shelter of the Renaissance courtyard of the SantaCruz Hospital, next to the exhibition “The Greek of Toledo”, will be held the presentation of “Angelico Greco. The sky was filled with music” with illustrious guests, and live music from the time of El Greco. Works by Diego Ortiz, Tomás Luis de Victoria or Francisco Guerrero will sound, illustrating the pages of this disc-book and the afternoon of Thursday 8 May.

How do El Greco’s paintings sound?
Answering this question is what the director and musicologist Javier Ulises Illán, the group Nereydas and the label CMY Baroque have proposed themselves with the edition of the book-disc “Angélico Greco”, a work to “listen to the paintings of the painter”.

The presentation of this second production of the CMY Baroque label will take place next Thursday 8 May in Toledo and Wednesday 14 May in Madrid, and will be attended by Javier Ulises Illán himself, author of the texts of the book and musical director of the group Nereydas.
The book brings us closer to the life and artistic creation of Domenico Theotocópuli and includes high quality images that summarize the painter’s work. On the other hand, the recording of the CD has been made with the musical instruments represented in his painting. The music, recorded in historical places of Toledo, such as the Cathedral, responds to an exquisite selection of masterpieces by composers of the time, such as Tomás Luis de Victoria, Francisco Guerrero, Diego Ortiz or Alonso Lobo.
